Google is a global technology company that specializes in internet-related services and products. Founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University, Google initially began as a search engine, aiming to organize the vast amount of information available on the internet and make it accessible to users. Its core product, the Google Search engine, quickly became the most widely used search tool globally.
Over the years, Google has expanded its range of services to include various other products such as YouTube (the world’s largest video-sharing platform), Gmail (an email service), Google Maps, Google Drive (cloud storage), and the Android operating system, which powers the majority of smartphones worldwide. Google is also involved in cutting-edge research and development in fields like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cloud computing, and hardware products like Pixel smartphones and Nest smart home devices.
During the workplace visit to Google’s New Delhi office, students had the unique opportunity to experience the inner workings of one of the world’s most influential tech companies. The visit began with a presentation on Google’s core mission of organizing the world’s information and making it universally accessible, emphasizing its commitment to innovation and user-centric products. Students learned about the diverse range of projects Google is involved in, from artificial intelligence and machine learning to digital advertising and cloud computing.
